What is Skin Improvement?

Our skin changes as we age. Ageing skin loses elasticity and sags. Whilst cosmetic surgery can be effective at removing excess skin and repositioning facial structures, it can’t address the quality of skin. The analogy is that surgery can improve the fit of a dress, but can’t improve the fabric. To do this there are many treatments available. These include specialist creams, lasers, peels and injectables. Many of these are offered by beauty shops and “aestheticians.” I offer injectables as well as Profhilo and microneedling as part of my surgical practise. I find these treatments most useful when helping patients maintain their results following surgery.

Perhaps the most important skin improvement you can do is ensure a healthy lifestyle, avoid excess alcohol and smoking. A good diet and regular exercise all contribute to healthier skin. Sun protection is also critical. It must be remembered that a tan is a sign of skin damage!

I chose Mr Holmes and the Methley Park Hospital because I was interested in going down the lesser invasive route (R-Lift). I was incredibly nervous during my first consultation however Mr Holmes described the whole process in a no-nonsense way which was easy for the ‘lay person’ to understand. As a result, I felt informed…

I recently had breast implants at Methley park hospital by Mr Holmes. I chose Mr Holmes on recommendation. I have a small frame and was advised on the size of the implants and not to go too big as they wouldn’t suit my frame. I went on Mr Holmes advice and my results are fab, I’m so pleased and would highly recommend this surgeon.
