What is Botox/Filler?

Botox is a neurotoxin that paralyses the muscle of the face to reduce wrinkling. Filler is a hyalonuric acid that can be injected into the skin to fill and smooth out wrinkles or contours caused by ageing.

Botox works very well for patients who have concerns about wrinkling to their forehead, crows feet or frown lines. It can be used in specialised situations to help raise the eyebrows, improve the lips, reduce neck wrinkling and treat a “gummy smile.” Filler works well to help reduce deep wrinkles in the lower face, especially the nasolabial folds, mouth and jawline. It can be used occasionally to improve cheek prominence and reduce the signs of baggy eyes. Filler can also help improve the definition of the lips.

Botox and filler come in various preparations and labels. Some offer slightly different properties and indications. In my practise I use Allergan Juvederm and Allergan Botox exclusively. Both are non permanent.

Who is Botox/Filler for?

Men and women seeking non surgical improvement with botox and filler and want it to be administered by a highly trained professional.
Men and women seeking non surgical facial rejuvenation
Men and woman seeking a treatment for excessive sweating
Most patients seeking botox are aged between 30-60 and often haven’t tried any previous treatment.

Patient Reviews

My Holmes was great from start to finish. He explained, in full, what the procedure entails and what to expect after the operation. Everything went great with the operation and the support from him and his staff was fantastic prior, during and after. I’m amazed how good my reconstructed breast looks and he even created me a nipple on a separate operation after just for it to look as “normal” as possible. With all his help and work I feel like a new woman and would highly recommend him to anyone.

Procedure risks.

Immediate Risks.

  • Mild bruising – can last 48 hours but easily concealed
  • Redness around the injection sites – usually settles the following day
  • Pinpoint bleeding from injection sites at the time of injection
  • Severe allergic reaction – very rare but essential equipment is onsite to deal with this if it occurs

Early Risks.

  • Asymmetry due to muscle paralysis
  • Failure to achieve desired result – we can top up the treatment a few weeks later if necessary
  • Skin necrosis – this occurs if filler is incorrectly injected into a blood vessel resulting in blockage of blood flow to an area of skin. This serious side effect requires prompt intervention within 24 hours
  • Blindness has been reported following injection of filler around the eyes. This is extremely rare but prompt recognition can save sight.

Late Risks.

  • Filler will dissolve at approximately 6-12 months
  • Botox will wear off between 3-6 months.
