Body Contouring Surgery in Leeds & York.

Body contouring surgery removes loose skin and excess fat from the tummy, arms and thighs. The aim is better definition, shape and proportion. Mr Holmes offers four body procedures, which can be carried out on their own or combined in a single operation.

Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)

A tummy tuck removes the excess skin and fat of the lower tummy under general anaesthetic. Where the hips and flanks also need contouring it can be combined with liposuction as a lipoabdominoplasty, and a fleur-de-lys pattern is available for excess skin of the upper tummy after massive weight loss. Surgery takes 3–4 hours with a stay of 1–2 nights, and most patients take 3–4 weeks off work.

Liposuction

Liposuction removes pockets of fat through a fine cannula attached to suction. Mr Holmes uses the water-assisted Bodyjet system. It reshapes rather than tightens, so it does not remove excess skin. Surgery takes 1–3 hours as a day case or with one night in hospital, with 1–2 weeks off work.

Arm lift (brachioplasty)

An arm lift removes loose skin from the upper arm under general anaesthetic, leaving a scar on the inner arm. Mr Holmes uses dissolvable stitches and no drains. Surgery takes around 3 hours with one night in hospital and 2–3 weeks off work.

Thigh lift

A thigh lift removes loose skin from the inner thigh, with the scar placed on the inside of the leg. It works best after massive weight loss; younger patients may need liposuction alone. Surgery takes around 3 hours with one night in hospital and around 2 weeks off work.
