Mr Holmes's approach to facial surgery is to refresh rather than change: small, careful adjustments that leave you looking like yourself. He offers surgery for the face and neck, the upper and lower eyelids and the ears, and procedures are often combined so that one recovery covers more than one area.

Facelift

A facelift treats sagging of the face and neck. Mr Holmes offers short scar facelifts, including the R-lift and MACS lift, as well as deep-plane facelifts, and the right technique for you is decided at consultation. Most patients are 45 or over. Surgery takes between 3.5 and 6 hours with one night in hospital, and can be combined with eyelid or brow surgery.

Upper eyelid surgery (upper blepharoplasty)

Upper eyelid surgery removes the excess skin, and sometimes a strip of muscle, that makes the eyes look tired or hooded, and treats the deeper fat where needed. It suits people whose eyelid skin interferes with their vision or with applying make-up. Surgery takes around 2 hours as a day case, under local or general anaesthetic, with around 2 weeks off work.

Lower eyelid surgery (lower blepharoplasty)

Lower eyelid surgery treats excess skin and eye bags through an incision just under the lashes. Where needed it can be extended into a midface lift. Surgery takes 2–3 hours.

Prominent ear correction

Prominent ear correction for adults uses stitches to fold the ear cartilage back, or removes excess cartilage. Surgery takes around 90 minutes as a day case, with a week off work and a sports headband worn while the ears heal.
