Skin.

Many of us have skin lesions or unsightly lumps we want rid of. This is a big part of my practise and can mostly be done under local anaesthetic in the treatment room adjacent to the consultation room. For those concerned about skin cancer, I offer urgent appointments so you can be seen by a specialist quickly.

Skin Surgery in Leeds & York.

Skin surgery covers the removal of moles, cysts and other lumps, and the treatment of skin cancer. Mr Holmes works as a surgeon in an NHS specialist skin unit. Most skin procedures are carried out under local anaesthetic as a day case, and removed tissue can be sent for histology to confirm exactly what it is.

Mole and blemish removal

Moles and blemishes are removed by shave excision or formal excision, with a biopsy where appropriate. The procedure takes 45–60 minutes under local anaesthetic and you go home the same day. It is suitable for lesions that have changed in size, shape or colour, and for those the NHS will not fund.

Skin lumps and bumps

Skin tags, warts, sebaceous cysts, papillomas, benign moles and scars can all be removed as a day case, in a procedure lasting 30–60 minutes.

Skin cancer

Mr Holmes treats the full range of skin cancers, from basal cell carcinoma to melanoma and sarcoma. If you are worried about a lesion, your GP can refer you on the NHS two-week-wait pathway; patients with private medical insurance can use it to be seen sooner. Surgery typically takes 45–60 minutes as a day case.

Mr Holmes operates at Spire Methley Park Hospital, Leeds (LS26 9HG) and consults at Coppergate Clinic, York (YO1 9NR). To arrange a consultation, call 01134 601796 or send an enquiry.
